Tiered fee

Fee model that is often used by asset managers. According to this model, the percentage costs that the investor has to pay are reduced as the assets increase. The fees are calculated on a progressive basis instead of for the entire assets. This creates an incentive for the client to invest more assets per mandate. Example: For the first CHF 50 million, 0.50% asset management fee is charged, for the next CHF 50 million 0.45% and for even higher assets 0.40%. For an investor who invests assets of CHF 70 million with such a fee model, the following asset management fees apply: CHF 50 million at 0.50% and CHF 20 million at 0.45% = 0.486% for the entire CHF 70 million ((50*0.50+20*0.45)/70).
