S&P GSCI (Goldman Sachs Commodity Index)

The S&P GSCI was originally published by Goldman Sachs and has been owned by Standard & Poor’s since 2007. It tracks the development of the global commodity markets (weighted by global production). The index includes all commodities that are relevant for liquid futures markets. The dominant commodity groups are energy sources (e.g. oil), which account for the largest share of the index at over 75%.

In addition to the overall index for all commodities, there are sub-indices for the individual commodity groups, e.g. energy sources, industrial metals, precious metals or agriculture.
